Corporate Actions

Clearstream receives corporate action event information from different sources such as:

  • the terms and conditions of the issue

  • Clearstream's sub-custodians

  • financial publications

  • independent information vendors

  • other relevant sources

Corporate action notifications

Customers with a position on a relevant issue are notified through Creation via SWIFT or CreationOnline. With the exception of Proxy Voting events, SWIFT MT564 notifications are issued for preliminary and confirmed market information on corporate action events.

Clearstream is committed to increasing Straight-Through-Processing rates and improving market standardisation. Clearstream is actively involved in the development of SWIFT ISO standards through its ongoing work with the Securities Market Practice Group (SMPG), and the immediate adoption of SWIFT ISO standard changes in the annual SWIFT updates.

Customers without a position on a relevant issue who wish to obtain notifications can do so via CreationOnline.

Reminder notifications are automatically generated to customers for voluntary events for which the full eligible balance held has not been instructed upon.

Corporate action instructions

Clearstream customers may instruct on voluntary events via CreationOnline, SWIFT MT565, for which optional reporting via SWIFT MT567 is available, and SWIFT MT568.
